The East High School Mountain Bike Team (East MTB) competes in the Colorado High School Cycling League. Each race is a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) sanctioned event.
EastMTB was founded in 2010 by Coach Steve Bussey.
EastMTB was one of 80+ teams to compete in 2018. Over 1,200 riders raced each weekend in 2 conferences: North and South. East MTB competes in the North Conference.
EastMTB has added riders each season. The team started with 5 riders in 2010 and grew to 18 riders in 2016. 2017 was a growth year and we almost doubled in size to 30 Riders. We should have over 45 Riders for the 2019 season!
Practices are typically held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday of each week leading up to and during the season. Monday and Saturday are usually Dirt practices and spent on local trails in the front range. Wednesdays are interval type practices held in City Park. Saturday practices will be used to Pre-Ride the race course once the race season begins.
EastMTB competes in 5 races each season. The 2019 Race Season will take place at the following dates and locations:
- August 26 – Frisco
- September 9 – Steamboat Springs
- September 23 – Granby
- October 7 – Eagle (Conference Championship)
- October 21 – Durango (State Championship)
